October 31st

October 31st is of course, Halloween. It is also Reformation Day. In our family we celebrate both. As far as Halloween goes, the kids just dress up in costumes and get lots of candy. For Reformation Day, we all watched the movie, Luther. And Todd taped the 95 Theses on the door of a friend's house! Fun times!
Earlier this month, we went on a field trip to a farm where the kids each picked a pumpkin. Then, the day before Halloween, we carved them into jack-o-lanterns.

Bekah might have enjoyed getting all the "gunk" out of her pumpkin,

but Brandon did not!

The skillful carver at work.

Bekah decided to try some of her pumpkin. She was really wanting me to make a pumpkin pie out of it.

Bekah is showing off her pumpkin she named "Lollipop."

Brandon named his "Scare Face."

Here they are aglow. We mentioned to the kids that turning a pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern is like when we become a Christian. God takes all our yucky sin out and gives us His light to live inside of us. Then we shine our lights for all the world to see.

Bekah dressed up as Sleeping Beauty.

And Brandon was a Ninja.

Here is the whole crew ready to go trick-or-treating.

Sleeping Beauty in action.

Ninja hiding in the mist....better watch out!
